Fishing Pike in Alaska is like a kid going to the candy store with his or her wallet full of cash. I decided to fish the Kuskokwim area up the Aniak river. Never before have I fished until my arms fell off from reeling Pike as big as my leg. They eat 24/7, rain, snow and shine..even if the river freezes up….cut a whole in the ice and Pike find their way on the hook. Fly fishing for Pike is more enjoyable then throwing a lure with multiple hooks…It takes a little longer to remove trebles than a single hook fly. And made the mistake of leaning over the skiff while reeling up my fly line to find a Pike torpedoing just inches from my nose. Father in law warned me of that..
