Smallmouth bass fishing is very popular, just not as popular as largemouth bass.  Smallmouth bass are found more in colder climates, although, they do well in some lakes down south.   They prefer cooler temperatures so you will typically find smallmouth bass in deeper water than largemouths and they like rocky bottoms.  Here are some good resources from other websites.
