NOAA Responds to Oil Geyser with Gulf Fishing Closure

All recreational and commercial fishing in a large section of federal waters from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Pensacola Bay will be closed for a minimum of 10 days, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced late yesterday. (See map here .) “The portion of the waters currently closed to fishing represents about 77 percent of Louisiana seafood production , Smith said. Disruptions as a result of the spill could cost the fishing industry in Louisiana alone as much as $2.5 billion, said financial research firm Bernstein.” Reuters .

The oil spill in the Gulf is a lot worse than people think, it is already effecting fishing in south Ms. and Al. it won’t be long before it starts affecting most of the USA. When it gets in the Gulf Stream it will travel up the entire Eastern seaboard and that is not what anybody wants to see. BP needs to hurry up and get their mess cleaned up!!!!
